I saw this play live last night in Marietta, Georgia and thought it was boring and awkward. Thought maybe it was the male actor but I watched a bunch of videos on UA-cam and none of them seem to be any different.

Glad to watch a bit of this. Supported an observation she uses upspeak when narrating books. She seems nice but there is no reason to elongate vowels or certain syllables when talking to be stretched out and certainly not when narrating. I’ve avoided audiobooks she does because of this. It’s very typical of modern American speech patterns but the cadence doesn’t flow. Ex: “A hipsteeeeryyyy cafeeeee in doooowntoooown booostoooon" (Literally a line delivery from When You Least Expect It.) I’m baffled she isn’t conscious of this.

Saw this 12/2/18 at the MRT and love love loved it! The casting was superb, the acting sublime, and the set just right. The writing is particularly well done, with a few key lines from Pride and Prejudice woven cleverly with mostly fresh period-consistent conversations to create this new story. I am surprised the play hasn't yet been optioned for a film (or maybe it has). Program notes indicated this was an ambitious undertaking for MRT, but everyone pulled it off beautifully. Highly recommend. I'd like to see it again.
